The Woombie - If I'd Only Known

Beckett had some sleep issues near the beginning. What am I talking about? He still has sleep issues! But when he was brand new, he would only sleep when he was swaddled (although he hated the action of actually being swaddled) and if he was in his swing. Those are two things that don't reconcile because the swaddle doesn't allow the baby to be strapped in properly. Enter the Leggies Woombie. Genius!

Our other problem was that once Beckett awoke, he would worm his little arms out and unswaddle the blankets. Our little Houdini. Presh... or not. These things look pretty wiggle proof. And they come in so many colors and styles.

They also have an organic version! I am loving this company. Has anyone tried one of these? How did it work for you?

Beckett - 6 Months

IMG_2880

He's officially a blondie! He still has some dark, new born hair in the back and some long stragglers that haven't fallen out yet, but every day I notice a thicker layer of baby chick hair growing up top. He could not look more like his father.

This month he got the hang of rice cereal and loves it, experimented with some banana and avocado, started making consonant sounds - he's got the ba's and ma's down as of yesterday - and perfected the art of rolling over in all directions. He can sit up on his own, if he's in any position but flat on his back, and enjoys sharing his spit covered fingers by shoving them into the mouth of who ever is holding him. Nummers.

I can't believe he's been with us for half of a year, time is really flying. Now I know what my mom always meant.

Give Wraps from Chewing the Cud

Group-HolNote-CTC2010-2056-KAL

Growing up my mom always wrapped gifts in scraps of leftover fabric from her designs and creations. Even now she always has home made gift bags that get reused holiday after holiday, although she always puts a new spin on them with ribbons or bows. She is my Earth Martha.

I took this inventive and ecological action for granted. But when I moved out of my parents house, I quickly realized that since I neither sew, nor craft, excess fabric is hard to come by and I did the walk of shame down the wrapping paper aisle. That's why I was delighted to see these adorable Give Wraps from Chewing the Cud.

Made from organic cotton and printed with soy ink, who could ask for a more perfect wrapping to put the finishing touch on the gift you worked so hard to pick out.

Alice Mae

Born one week ago yesterday to our best friends, Alice Mae. She's just as pretty and sweet as can be. It's true little girls are made of everything nice. A built in bestie for Beckett, I can't wait to see them grow together and learn from each other.

Congrat's Linz and Matt. I'm so glad the four of us are taking this ride together.

Beckett - 5 Months

IMG_2564

What amazing changes my little B is going through. About midway through last month he went from babbling and "singing" all the time to being the quietest little baby. And just around that same time he began making huge leaps in hand-eye coordination. He grabs (and gets) just about anything now. So adorable...until he ripped the glasses off my face, but still kind of adorable.

He rolls over, both ways and sits unassisted. He is noticing so much more about his surroundings. He follows the cats around the room, he watches his dad doing dishes and he even stops nursing to see what the clicking noise is over his shoulder, which of course, is me typing away on the laptop. It's amazing to watch.

He's lost most of his dark hair, except for the ring around the back of his head and over his ears - the toilet bowl, in male pattern baldness speak. All of the new little sprouts are blond, making him look even more like his father. If that were possible.

Then just a few days ago, he started talking again, loud and clear. I'm so happy to have his little voice filling the house again. It's music to my ears.

I can't wait to see what happens next.
